Greatest gifts are unexpected

One of our greatest gifts began with an email.

Hi there,

We are a nonprofit bridal store that raises funds for local and national women-focused charities. We have locations in Portland, Tacoma and Seattle.

We love your mission and have approved a gift to your organization for $10,000. This is a no-strings attached gift - you may use the funds however you'd like. We promote all gifts on our website and social media.

We read the email about three times and did a bit of Googling before concluding it wasn’t a prank.

After much back and forth, we were able to schedule a time to meet. Sana, the store manager, was the one who discovered Woman of Wonder. She was online searching for Vancouver charities to support, found womanofwonder.org, read all about the nonprofit and recommended Woman of Wonder as a potential recipient of their gifts.

Our board walked around speechless for a week.

On the day of the big event, the wonderful women of Brides for a Cause welcomed us warmly at their southeast Portland boutique and presented a check for $10,000. We gratefully accepted, Wilma A. Doane, inspiration for our nonprofit, board member Ken Doane (Wilma’s husband). Carol Doane our Founder and President of the Board.
