Books to Textbooks Program

One of our board members came to us as a fresh, savvy college student. She brought knowledge of how to make the most out of personal resources, and she offers ongoing insight to the board from a student's perspective.

One thing most college students have in common: cash constraints. However, when funds are limited, creativity and ingenuity get a true workout and we've learned some great tips from our youngest board member, Kailynn Keirstead.

One of her insights it that used bookstores can be a secret, treasure trove of college textbooks — at affordable prices.

From that aha moment, our board began the Books to Textbooks Program.

Here's how you can help

Donate your used books to Woman of Wonder.

We accept books on Saturdays between 9 a.m. and noon, or by prearranged time.

Once logged and reviewed, we take your donated books to used bookstores in our area and trade them for store credit. Then, when one of our scholars needs a little boost, we offer help by with a textbook purchase.

Our generous board member volunteers her time to review the applicant’s book list, searches the bookstores where we have credit, and purchases what she can find. It’s not an exact science, it’s search and success, and sometimes search with no success.

Yes, it's hands-on, it's laborious and it's a project of love, and you can be a part of it. You get the easy part: donate a book.

We also accept Barnes and Noble gift cards for this program. They have a great supply of new and used textbooks and will buy back college textbooks helping the student after the course is completed.
